Just wrapped up season 6 of Smallville and have to admit that while it slowed down a little near the end of season 5, these last few episodes of season 6 have been some of my favorites. Lionel Luthor forces Lana to marry Lex and she stays in the marriage to help keep Clark safe. Lana slowly discovers all of Clark’s powers, which leads to her leaving Lex after a few months while he slowly becomes more evil, Clark telling her that he’s from Krypton, and her eventually being killed by a car bomb. BOOM! Don’t worry though, she faked her own death, believing that was the only way she could truly be free of Lex. I think it’ll be quite a while before Clark learns she’s alive though, so for now he’s convinced Lex killed her and wants him dead.
Here’s my progress since the last post:
125 Freak
126 Promise
127 Combat
128 Progeny
129 Nemesis
130 Noir
131 Prototype
132 Phantom

Does this thing still work?
I’ve slacked quite a bit over the last few weeks when it comes to keeping this blog updated on my progress, but it’s mostly been with good reason. I finished The Wise Mans Fear by Patrick Rothfuss 3 days after it showed up on our Kindle and was very happy with the results. I was pleased with the results but a little disappointed at the R rating Rothfuss decided to give book 2 in the trilogy. Not exactly something I could recommend to anyone still living with their parents anymore, but if that’s the price you pay for a great book, then ok!
Even better than getting to finally read book 2 though, was getting Jessica eyeball deep in book 1, The Name Of The Wind. She won’t yet say that it’s the best book she’s ever read, but she’ll readily admit that it is a very good book so far.
I’ve managed to slog through some episodes of Smallville despite being distracted with reading. Here’s what I’ve watched since my last update:
116 Fallout
117 Rage
118 Static
119 Subterranean
120 Hydro
121 Justice
122 Labyrinth
123 Crimson
124 Trespass
In Smallville land, Lana is now engaged to Lex Luthor and pregnant with what we have to assume is his spawn (there have been doubts raised). Oliver Queen, aka The Green Arrow, has formed a group that eventually becomes the Justice League. Lana is starting to get a handle on Clarks big secret (he’s not gay, he’s an alien) and Lex is really coming into his own as a baddie.
In other news, Jessica and I have created a Google spreadsheet where we track what we eat and how much we weigh every single day and for some crazy reason, it’s working! Having to write down everything we eat throughout the day really makes you reconsider hitting the vending machine at 2:30 in the afternoon. We’ve only been doing this for a week now, but the lbs are actually falling off pretty regularly
We’re coming up to week 3 of no soda and while I can’t say it’s been easy for Jessica, she’s been doing an awesome job. I haven’t really felt tempted too much by Pepsi, but she’s had her resolve tested nearly every day at work with free soda offers. We’re also trying to do a no fast-food thing at the same time. This is mostly working because of $$, so I’m hoping we can keep it going once that is less of an issue.
